Subtituting incompetence for incompetence in Kwara, A Long Road Ahead
The path to rectify the accidental government and the political error committed by kwarans in electing Governor Abdulrahman in 2019 and relected him in 2023 elections is an error that kwara must be warry of Governor Abdulrahman as we are moving in kwara political dynamics. No doubt that Abdulrazaq and the APC in Kwara is a big mistake and arduous one that kwara must ready to change it with their hands in the nearest future. It is a journey that the people of Kwara must be willing to undertake to ensure a brighter future for our state. It is high time Kwarans refused to endorse the governor and his calculated attempt to force his potential successor from his entourage on kwarans.
The reason is simple: The successor would definitely perpetuate the existing status quo, Incompetence – a scenario akin to 'same gun, same bullet' – that does not bold well for the development of Kwara.
The current administration under the leadership of Abdulrazaq has not only wasted precious time but has also systematically pushed the state into a pit of underdevelopment. This troubling situation is not an accidental outcome but rather the result of a deliberate lack of focus on quality of governance by the administration. The government has prioritized personal enrichment over public welfare, and this is evident in the substandard work on various touted projects across the state.
In my previous articles, I wrote my concerns over the increasing state of insecurity in Kwara. Alarmingly, the governor led administration seem to show little or no concern about this pressing issue. Reports of the governor governing the state from afar are testament to the lack of seriousness of the current government. This is a clear indication of the quagmire that Kwarans have found themselves in.
Adding salt to injury, some of the failed APC stalwarts in Kwara are already laying the groundwork for the 2027 elections. Despite their poor performance and the resultant deterioration of the state, they are even constituting mobilization committee. The audacity of such actions is appalling and shows a complete disregard for the wellbeing of Kwarans.
However, Kwarans must not lose heart. It is time to say enough is enough. We must not allow the baton of incompetency to be passed on from one failed leader to another. We yearn for the return of our lost glory. We desire a Kwara that is governed by serious, competent, and compassionate leaders.
While the journey to right the wrongs of the current administration may be long, it is a journey worth embarking on. Kwarans deserve better, and it is time for a change. It is time for a better Kwara.
