THE SORDID STORY OF A GOVERNMENT POWERED BY CONSISTENT PROPAGANDA AND PUTRID LIES
Fellow Kwarans, it is time we started to ask the current state government led by Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq questions on how they have managed our scarce resources. This is a government that has had three great revenue years to do much, much more than the miniscule "achievements" they are parading on social media.
Kwarans must call on the Government to account for the billions of naira it said it has spent on renovation of schools across the State. In the spirt of transparency and accountability that they have always mouthed, can the government provide Kwarans a list containing locations and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) of the over 600 schools it claimed it to have renovated with the the over N14billion UBEC funds ?
I had asked this same question as a regular "Joe Bloggs" on the street. I had about a month ago, put the question to the duo of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye and the Commissioner for Communications, Mr. Olabode Towoju on my Facebook page and on a WhatsApp platform. Till now, the government has not made available the list; all I've got are personal attacks on my person. This is very disheartening and disconcerting.
Now, we know you would ask; "why has the PDP not written officially for the release of this golden list?" The simple reason is that the government will not answer this query, which is well within their right. However, if the Yakubu Danladi-led rubber stamp Kwara House of Assembly had passed the Freedom of information bill (FoI), which is being "adjusted" by KWHA since 2019, the State Government would have been legally bound to give us the information we requested for.
The KWHA has become a willing errand boy of the Governor, by doing his bidding even when it's illegal and against the interest of the State. The pass executive sponsored bills at 'hypersonic speed' but has failed to pass the FoI bill for the past three years.
The Kwara PDP calls on Kwarans to begin to ask questions on how and what our common patrimony has been spent on, in the last three years, starting from the billions of naira the government said it has spent on repainting of schools across the State.
Prince 'Tunji Moronfoye is the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State.
