Kwara: Abdulrazaq new minimum wage, a Greek gift, inconsequential - Saraki Media Aide.

The Media Aide to the former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki on local matters, Abdulqadir Abdulganiyu, has lambasted Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for playing politics with the workers welfare by approving the minimum wage consequential adjustment months to the General elections.

In a statement he signed and made available to news men in Ilorin the state capital, Abdulganiyu described the wage approval as a Greek gift that should be welcomed with utmost caution.

He said the implementation is suspicious coming three years after his assumption of office and at a time when political activities had already commenced.

The Press Officer said, "One wonders why Governor AbdulRazaq did not implement the consequential minimum wage few months after he got to office according to his campaign promises in 2019.

"Having vowed to implement the new minimum wage once he gets to office, one would have expected him to do so in the first 100 days or even three months in office.

"But alas, the deceitful AbdulRazaq administration is doing so three years after he got to power when he saw the handwriting on the wall that his administration is sinking."

Abdulganiyu also said Governor AbdulRazaq's decision to wait till now before implementing the new wage, far after many other states is the height of wickedness, especially because the administration had enough in its coffers to pay the dedicated workers.

"As you can see, the state government has the financial capacity to pay all these years, but he refused. His decision to even pay now contrary to his earlier claim that the state has no financial capacity to do so vindicates our earlier claim that the governor was lying."

Mr Abdulganiyu said "the consequential adjustment is at the moment inconsequential at a time when inflation, occasioned by the directionlessness of the All Progressive Congress, APC-led government is rising at an astronomical pace."

"Come to think of it, the adjustment being celebrated by the APC government and its sycophants is insignificant considering the prices of goods and commodities in the market'.

"While the AbdulRazaq government and its cronies are busy making mountain out of mole hills, many workers are lamenting the high cost of things in the market which the so called consequential adjustment won't have enough on their earnings because of the market values.

Abdulganiyu asked workers and Kwarans in general to remain perseverant as the People's Democratic Party, PDP, will put efforts in place to rescue the state from the abysmal administration of the APC and its desperate moves to remain in power by all means.
