Kwara 2023: Group commends Bolaji Abdullahi for supporting PDP's zoning decision.

A group of loyalists of former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State under the auspices of The Devoted Minds, has lauded Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, for throwing his weight behind the party's decision to zone its governorship ticket to Kwara North senatorial district. 


It will be recalled that Kwara PDP, last December, announced that it had zoned its governorship ticket to Kwara North in the spirit of fairness, justice, equity and in fulfillment of its pledge to the region. 


Abdullahi who is an ex-Minister of Sports and Youth Development and 2019 gubernatorial aspirant, on Tuesday, visited the Kwara PDP secretariat in Ilorin to formally congratulate the new executive of the party led by Alhaji Babatunde Mohammed. During the visit, the former Minister expressed his unflinching support for the party's resolve to pick its candidate for the 2023 governorship election from Kwara North. 


Reacting to the development, the Devoted Minds in a statement signed by its Assistant Administrative Secretary, Onilemarun Abdulkareem, hailed Abdullahi's move, noting that such gesture further demonstrates his loyalty to the party as well as the cohesion and unity within the Kwara PDP family. 


The statement reads in part: "We wish to commend former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, for declaring his support for the Kwara PDP's decision to cede its governorship ticket to Kwara North senatorial district, notwithstanding his own ambition. His gesture is noteworthy and further demonstrates his loyalty and dedication to the cause of the party. It also reflects the cohesion and unity within the Kwara PDP family. 


"The Devoted Minds urges other governorship aspirants from Kwara Central and South to jettison their ambition and rally behind the party's zoning decision and work together to ensure success of the party across all levels in the 2023 general elections. The overall interest of the party supercedes individual interest; this we must recognise and respect."
