The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State, have charged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to make a public apology for intentionally misleading the public with lies and propaganda on the ownership of Shonga Farm. The Kwara PDP said this via a statement issued by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Tunde Ashaolu, in the wake of reports that the farm is owned by former Governor of the state, His Excellency, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and that he used the state asset as collateral to fund the project. The Media Aide to the former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki on local matters, Abdulqadir Abdulganiyu, has lambasted Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for playing politics with the workers welfare by approving the minimum wage consequential adjustment months to the General elections. In a statement he signed and made available to news men in Ilorin the state capital, Abdulganiyu described the wage approval as a Greek gift that should be welcomed with utmost caution. He said the implementation is suspicious coming three years after his assumption of office and at a time when political activities had already commenced. All the participants engaged in the debate in a disciplined way, marshalling their arguments, responding to their opponents’ points and bringing passion and patience to a controversial subject. Both teams had been trained by the actions leading their path. The programme gave millions of young people in Nigerian the skills and confidence to develop their debating skills and to know more about politics, power and performances. The advanced countries also run similar programmes to help young people freely express their thoughts and opinions on the issues that affect their lives. Politicians in many countries have debating societies. At my school (many years ago) we were encouraged by our teachers to tackle the most controversial subjects of the day.
