 Top politician and businessman , Alhaji Bashir Tofa, is dead.


  He had on Friday , 31 December 2021 and Saturday, January 1, 2022 been made a victim of a death hoax.


 It was later confirmed that he was still alive.


Basic news Reporter  learned Tofa , who had been critically ill, was given oxygen on Friday night and this gave birth to rumours that he had died.


He has since last week been receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.


Family source told Basic news Reporter  that the worst fears have been finally confirmed and that he has crossed the great divide in the early hours of Monday.


 The top politician, who died at 74 , was until his death on Monday, the Chairman of Kano Elders Forum.


Salat-ul janazah prayers was held for him at his Gandu Albasa area residence in Kano this morning.


Tofa was the National Republican Convention candidate while late Chief MKO Abiola was the SDP candidate in the presidential election held on June 12, 1993.


The election however had no candidate announced as winner.


Chairman of the defunct National Electoral Commission, Professor Humprey Nwosu suddenly halted the collation exercise and the announcements of results, then came the main action which was the annulment of the election by the then Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida.


Election data showed that Chief Abiola , who died in detention on the 7th of July, 1998, won the presidential election but he was never officially declared winner or sworn into office by the military goverment

Hon Bawa breaks fast with Keke Napep riders, Promises them a purposeful representation.

  Tonight, PDP Kwara North senatorial candidate, Isa Bawa met with Napep riders assured that 'I'm going there to represent you all in the red chamber if eventually elected".
