Otoge beclouded us from Seeing through many Impactful Contributions of Senator Rafiu
~~ By Tunde Bakare
Founder and convener of Kwara Tabloid and one of the notable voices in Otoge struggle of 2019 in Kwara State, Mr Tunde Bakare, has just broken his silence over what he described as late discoveries of many giant contributions of Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, Senator who represented Kwara South senatorial district under the Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki led 8th National Assembly.
Tunde Bakara, a talented media expert, made this revelation during a conversation which ensued in Kwara Tabloid WhatsApp group and was closely monitored by this medium.
He said he has just began to see through some of the giant contributions of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim as a Senator who diligently served the people of Kwara South under the mentorship of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki as President of the Senate and chairman 8th National Assembly.
Pointing to some of the contributions which he said were remarkable and impactful to Kwara and Nigeria, Bakare listed among other things "Credit Reporting Act 2017 and Secured Transactions in Moveable Assets Acts 2017" as two vital bills sponsored by Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim which contributed to ease of doing business policy in the country.
Tunde Bakare said, although, Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who was then the coordinating man in charge of the economy acknowledged his contribution and even conferred a meritorious award on Senator Rafiu Ibrahim. Him and his likes were so busy pursuing Otoge which they thought would do it better but ended up producing a governor who has not only failed but succeeded in relegating Kwara state.
He said, "Among all that excites me about Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim as a Senator, these two come first:
"1. Under the political mentorship of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on the 5th of December 2017, Senator Rafiu received a Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council Award.
2. The 2 reform bills he sponsored as a senator contributed significantly to Nigeria moving up the Getting Credit indicator from number 44 to number 6."
"1. Credit Reporting Act 2017
2. Secured Transactions in Moveable Assets Acts 2017. The two bills are now Acts, actually."
"You know why? It was for his contribution to the Ease of Doing Business strategy of 2016 to 2017. The award was given by Yemi Osibajo. Remember?"
Furthering his arguments, he explained that he is just getting some of the documents which revealed those information as he was busy with Otoge all through the 2019 general elections.
