Baraje: All hail the new Tafida of Ilorin!

Image
By: : Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode GreatKay.  It’s no longer a news that Friday 18th February, 2022 will be for the turbaning ceremony of Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, CON, as the new Tafida of Ilorin Emirate following his appointment about a couple of months ago by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, CFR, the Emir of Ilorin.  Of everything that defines Alh. Kawu Baraje, he is first a teacher, there again, his outstanding career as an administrator and astute politician. Above all, a great philanthropist whose philanthropic gestures extensively cut across Ilorin, its environs and Nigeria at large. Alh. Baraje is a thorough-bred Ilorin man and the second holder of the title, which became vacant last year, following the death of the first holder, Dr Yusuf Amuda Aluko, OFR (1935-2020). For this appointment, the Emir couldn’t have found a perfect man to fill in one the most revered titles in the Emirate first created  by the 9th Emir of Ilorin, Shaykh Sulu Gambari. The current

2022 budget was designed to loot Kwara’s treasury, serve Abdulrazaq's selfish interest' - PDP

Press Statement  14, January, 2022 The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara says the State’s 2022 Appropriation Bill presented before the House of Assembly last December by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq was designed to loot the State’s resources and serve the interest of the ruling class.  The party in a statement released Today,  by its State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Ashaolu, noted that the budget proposal was draped with baffling expenditure assertions, padding, bogus allocations for white elephant projects/programmes, misplaced priorities, deceptive projections, false performance claims and empty promises.  It alleged that Hon. Abdulraheem Agboola who is the only opposition member in House was suspended by the Assembly leadership to prevent him from participating in the 2022 budget debate so that their unholy dealings will not be uncovered.  "Kwarans can now see that Agboola's suspension is a product of conspiracy between the Abdulrazaq led executive and the legisla

Kwara North 2023 and the fear of the inferior emperor

It is no more news that the Kwara PDP has zoned its gubernatorial ticket to Kwara North ahead of the 2023 general elections, a move that has given hope to the actualisation of the region's long years of agitations and dream to produce governor of the state.  It is pertinent to reiterate that contrary to insinuations from some quarters particularly the Governor Abdulrazaq’s camp, the #KwaraNorth2023 agenda is a cause that is widely accepted and supported by a vast majority of leaders and youth from the region. It is definitely not a campaign that's being championed by a few people as some want us to believe.  Since the announcement of the Kwara PDP’s decision to zone its governorship ticket to Kwara North, leaders including royal fathers and concerned youths within the area have been meeting and strategising on how to ensure that Kwara North does not only present a candidate but win the forthcoming governorship election.  This is definitely not the end of the campaign for the #

Come with equity with clean hands, did Saraki make 62year-old Toyin Ayinla Kwara APC Assistant Youth Leader?

Image
. ._AbdulRahman, not Saraki, responsible for my position at inception in 2017_ Good morning my dear brother! I read your response to the APC propaganda, and I wish to commend ur efforts for the clarifications and tutorial. As golden as silence could be, subject matter of this tune demands a crystal clarification to educate the populace, for them to ignore misleading outpours. However, let them be reminded that AA was responsible for me becoming the State Youth Leader in 2017. But as a result of the defection of Saraki back to the PDP, which scared AA and his cohorts to defect to the APC in 2018, a move I felt wasn't in the interest of Kwarans and having carefully considered the aftermath of the unholy alliance between some strange bed fellows, I decided to align with the best option, hence my political marriage with Saraki. In the same vein, after serving the party meritoriously between 2017 and 2021 when my first tenure expired, having sighted the importance of competency above ot

Re: Leaders, Cause of youths non-participation in Politics

Your assertions are untrue Haruna Likpata tells  Kwara Central Representative in the Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP), Ibraheem Abdullateef I wouldn't want to write or reply your interview but after reading through your arranged comments, I came to conclusion that your fantasy and attacks on the person of Dr. Bukola Saraki was merely because of the pains you all felt since zoning of the ticket to Kwara North. The dreamers dreams that what Kwara PDP and leaders of the party had done has kept you and your co-travellers in a state of recovery. That recovery state wouldn't have come anytime soon until Kwarans who are genuinely concerned about our unity and peace and alluded to their beliefs that equity, fairness and justice must prevail come 2023.  I'm replying you because largely you are more concerned about 2023 gubernatorial election in Kwara. You are more concerned about the awaited defeats of this current administration in the State. You are more concerned about your imagin

Where was he, when #DrBukolaSaraki sponsored about 50 Kwara-born first class graduates (Youths) for Masters degree? 2. Saraki’s Aide to Kwara Gov: Ex-SP Not Your Problem, Deliver On Your Promises

Image
January 5, 2022 PRESS STATEMENT Saraki’s Aide to Kwara Gov: Ex-SP Not Your Problem, Deliver On Your Promises The Media Office of Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has advised the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to cure himself of the fixation with the name of a man who assumed the post he is presently occupying 18 years ago and rather focus on how to provide efficient governance to the people of Kwara State. In a statement signed by Yusuph Olaniyonu, the Media Office noted that Governor Abdulrazaq has continued to display the attitude of a man suffering from inferiority complex and that is why he would always talk about Saraki who left the Office of Governor of Kwara State over a decade ago. “The Media Office of Abubakar Bukola Saraki noted the ‘long essay’ written by Rafiu Ajakaye, the Press Secretary to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq which was drifting with the name of Saraki from the headline to the last sentence. Ordinarily, one would ignore the

The Infertile Cacophony Of The 'O to ge' Mouthpiece

Image
By Faruq Atofarati Recently, Achilles of the 'O to ge' political trubes out of cynical, facetious dedication to keep the dead political bunkum and the likes of himself on the trend-table, in attempt to protect his pay master's ambition as a dutiful 'good' servant, tried earnestly both in 'fallacy' facts and grammars to discredit the ex Senate President's claim on national TV about how the people of Kwarans misjudged his dynasty. The social media pundit personé however wasn't able to prove that 'O to ge' noise wasn't much about propaganda by power-salivating individuals and opportunists.  The claim alone is barricading the intelligence of Kwarans into the abyss of effusive downgrading. The crooners claimed to have something better to offer than the previous administration using the inevitable flaws in government to cajole the populace, of course, people were convinced. The media 'relevance' seeker said "Nobody got anything in

Osinbajo Notifies Buhari Of Intention To Run For President In 2023

Image
Vice President Oluyemi Osinbajo has informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to run for president in 2023 and sought the blessing of his principal who did not make immediate commitments, Peoples Basic news Reporter reports. Mr Osinbajo’s move came when he met with Mr Buhari on New Year’s Day with the mindset that his ambition will see a gradual but consistent upswing if moored to honesty and uprightness from the beginning, according to three administration officials familiar with the development.  “The Vice-President did not want to go into the election year by hiding a plan which the president had probably already known about,” a national security aide told The Basic news Reporter on Monday night under anonymity because the parley was not approved for public consumption. “He knew that an immediate endorsement of the president, on the other hand, may not be so easy to come by.”  Mr Osinbajo said he was not looking to ambush and railroad the president into endorsing him an

Facts And Realities of Nigerian Politics: Tips For The Conscientious Mind, Who Wish To Meet His/Her Creator Well.

By  Musa Idris Buko  1. Know, believe and understand that no ideological distinction between and among all political parties in Nigeria. The likely differences in the political parties are: names, symbol, and the characters of personalities that occupy elective and / or appointive positions, using the respective parties' platforms. Therefore, be wise not to angelize or demonize any political party, or politician. There may be cross-overs at any time. What matters is the very egoistic interests of the politicians in any political party.  2. Never judge people or politicians for and from their decisions and affiliations. We often do not have the knowledge, and facts to do that. If you need and have to, let your criticisms be objective, factual, specific and most importantly be sincere, not ill intended. Don't go personal, leave people with their personal defects, business and lifestyle. Perfection belongs to Allah, while fallibility is for human. 3. Never believe or work with

PDP berates the Governor AbdulRazaq Administration on the state of insecurity in the State, and recent intertribal unrest at the mandate market.

Image
Akogun Iyiola oyedepo and Co have started thier journey of false narratives and tales to a dead end ..... The unrest in the state is now taking a new shape and it is not getting any better, the recent cases of kidnapping and Armed robbery have been sources of concern for the people and the intertribal skirmish at Mandate Market,Ilorin is yet another whipping on our  unity as a people. This is not what we need, especially not at this moment when the unity of our country is at its lowest, every citizen and good government are expected to play their parts in the security and unity of their states. But coming down to the state of harmony where one would expect harmonious relationship among people of different stratification, religion and ethnicity but the face-off between the Yoruba and Hausa traders at the mandate market, is a sad betrayal of that appellation. That incident, unfortunately is just another paragraph on this long essay of insecurity in the state, just like the Share/ Kangre

Dear Barrister Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, Let me begin with all due apology that your initial piece had all indications of cognitive dissonance, sanctimony, dramatization, and consequently, it is all performative. You embarked on storytelling and narrating the history of our dear state and you began from 2003? If I may ask, is it because the years that preceded were beautiful or were also not years to be proud of. You had to sweep the late Lawal administration under the carpet, don't you feel it is hypocrisy? This is a question begging for an answer.  Sir, you are beyond being bold to have laid claims, evaluation and issuance of judgement on three administrations but forsake/exonerate Lawal's administration. Therefore, it is a disservice to the new generation of Kwarans sir. If history was not properly recorded, what you did is like the version of the Yoruba history that said the world was full of oceans before Obatala came with a Cock, sand and white clothe; then he placed the C
