RE: Saraki’s 419 Northern PDP “Consensus” Candidacy By Farooq Kperogi

Image
Our attention has been drawn to an article written by our brother from Baruten. No doubt, Prof. Farooq Kperogi is not only a Prince of Borgu but one of the strongest voices in Nigeria who is known to look at issues objectively but on this one he goofed. We would try to, in the best of our ability present to Prof. Farooq how the micro-zoning came about.  Firstly, most of the points marshalled out by Prof. Farouq Kperogi as to why Kwara North should be considered for Governorship in Kwara State are in the open. Kwara North is just getting the first real opportunity to be Governor in Kwara State since 1999. This development is epoch and majority of us are glad that Kwara North is being considered.  Initially, many factors favoured Baruten and Kaiama to produce the Governorship candidate but it came to our knowledge that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) did extensive  and wide consultations before settling for Edu/Patigi/Moro instead of Baruten/Kaiama. Interestingly Moro people a

Debunking Kperogi’s Unwarranted Attack on Saraki By Ilemona Onoja

You know it’s political season when a usually brilliant public commentator like Professor Farooq Kperogi, known for his sharp wit and brutal analysis, publishes an article that stands truth, fact and logic on its head in his determination to reach a narrow-minded conclusion. In this thread, which I will occasionally refer to, he falsely accuses Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki of manipulating the consensus talks between him, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi and Alhaji Mohammed Hayatudeen. He goes further to accuse Dr. Saraki of being dictatorial in the political calculations leading to the 2023 gubernatorial elections in Kwara State. His article raises two pertinent issues on which Dr. Saraki has taken very clear, open and transparent positions and then somersaults repeatedly in his attempts to muddy them. It is curious that he states the facts, then unsuccessfully tries to wish them away in a manner that is uncharacteristic of a commentator of his re

Titiloye Prices Kperogi's Professorial low

Image
Dear Professor Farooq Kperogi Sir,  Reading your piece titled "Saraki's 419 Northern PDP "Consensus Candidacy" dated April 24th, 2022 established two important facts as an ardent reader of yours. (1) Perhaps, Farooq can't be brilliant and intelligent at all times; (2) Farooq can equally speak from the position of ignorance and can be educated, informed and reoriented by others without his consent. After all, there is a "consensus" that those that refuse to be educated on certain issues will be a menace and an "intellectual 419' to not only Northern Nigeria, North Central and Kwara State, but also Nigeria. What you wrote is an opinion devoid of facts. Hence, you can be informed and educated. Professor, let me state that a writer that wants to educate the public must limit his usage of adjectives that depicts hatred, I believe there is a "consensus" that hatred and anger are impediments to deep reasoning. Whatever adjectives you see at

Among the Personalities he received for Iftar were PDP chairman, Hon Saba Lalagi, Ex Council Boss Hon Dauda Lata, Ex Commissioners and host of others. Bawa used the singular opportunity after iftar to share some issues with them regarding his project as PDP Candidate for Kwara North Senatorial seat. Bawa canvassed for their support and cooperation that this is the best time for us to deliver Kwara absolutely for PDP because the Governorship seat has been zoned to Edu-patigi as a result of micro zoning.  The Candidate assured that, We will reclaim the Glory back to our people because PDP is the people's loving party with National colouration.  In response, the Party chairman also lent his voice by assuring that Good people of Patigi are

2023: Choose either from South East or North Central

Image
To those committed to equity and justice, the ongoing argument of whether northern Nigeria should produce Nigeria’s next president, or the president should come from the south, is very troubling, dishonest and fraught with dangers. This argument arrogantly or ignorantly presupposes that we have only two regions in Nigeria. Nothing can be farther from the truth. The facts are that the Federal Republic of Nigeria is made up of 36 states, a federal capital territory, and 774 Local Government Areas. Furthermore, due to the multi-ethnic nature of the country and the quest to address perpetual frictions and fear of domination among its component units, Nigeria was again divided into six geographical zones among which political powers should rotate. These geo-political zones were carefully carved based on geographical locations, similar ethnicity, economic activities and common political ideology. The six zones are the South South zone, South East, South West, North Central, North West, and

Quick Facts On PDP's Recent Guber Zoning To Edu and Patigi LGAs By Musa Idris Buko Sunday 10th April, 2022

Image
I listened to various audio recordings and also read few write-ups flying around the media space about the most recent micro-zoning of our great party (PDP)'s gubernatorial flag to Edu and Patigi LGAs. While I do not intend to speak now, the unfolding deliberate misinformation, distortion of facts and reality; peddling of narratives to advance self interests that threaten our unity, and of course give false dooms-hope to those who neither genuinely believed and laboured for KN2023 power shift struggle in the interest of the region, nor wish our party well in the first place. This makes it imperative to set few facts straight, moving forward. And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart – about all those [one] will be questioned. Do not speak without Knowledge  Allah says; وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ

THE SORDID STORY OF A GOVERNMENT POWERED BY CONSISTENT PROPAGANDA AND PUTRID LIES

Image
Fellow Kwarans, it is time we started to ask the current state government led by Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq questions on how they have managed our scarce resources. This is a government that has had three great revenue years to do much, much more than the miniscule "achievements" they are parading on social media.  Kwarans must call on the Government to account for the billions of naira it said it has spent on renovation of schools across the State. In the spirt of transparency and accountability that they have always mouthed, can the government provide Kwarans a list containing locations and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) of the over 600 schools it claimed it to have renovated with the the over N14billion UBEC funds ?  I had asked this same question as a regular "Joe Bloggs" on the street. I had about a month ago, put the question to the duo of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye and the Commissioner for Communications, Mr. Olabode Towo
